It does not matter whether you sync a collection or add the images to the All synched Photographs special collection. These proxy images do not consume any of your plan storage. These are suitable for editing in Lightroom but probably not suitable for tasks like printing. If you only have 20Gb of storage, then you need to spend a lot of time doing housekeeping to keep your cloud storage under 20GB.Īs for option #2, Images sync’d from Classic are proxy images that do not exceed 2560px on the long edge. If this is only 20GB, then that can be less than one camera card full of images. These need to consume no more than your storage plan. Full sized images are imported thru Lightroom to the Cloud and full sized into your master Classic catalog. I can do this easily because I have the 1TB Photography Plan and not the 20GB Photography Plan. I haven’t read Chapter 22 but I suspect it suggests something like I do.įirst, I prefer option #1 and use my iPadPro as a front end importer for my master Classic catalog. If I choose option #2, what's the best way of setting things up so that all photos that I upload are synced? Maybe I just make a collection for each month/year, sync those collections, and then when I upload photos I just add all of them to those collections? 
It seems like option #1 is best if I want to have most or all of my photos synced between CC and Classic? But the downside is that, after a new shoot, I'd have to wait for the photos to upload to the cloud and then download to Classic before I could start editing them in Classic, right? That seems like a pain. In option #2, I would import photos into Classic, but then I would need to put them into a new or existing collection that is synced, or add them to the "all synced photographs" collection, in order for them to sync. In option #1, all photos that I upload to CC will automatically be synced to Classic.

It seems there are two options for how to do this: I've done some reading about this, and I'm trying to figure out the best workflow. But, I also want to continue using CC so I can view/edit my library on my iPhone, iPad Pro, and Macbook Pro, and so I have an easy way of getting photos from my iPhone 13 into Lightroom. I need the print module and I'd like to be able to use plugins like Topaz Gigapixel AI. Now, I'd like to return to using Classic as my primary. When I returned to it about 1.5 years ago, I started using Lightroom CC. I used Lightroom Classic as my primary DAM and editor for many years.
